I usually put bananas in a brown paper bag which helps it ripen quicker. However, I have also heard that you can put them in a sealed plastic bag - along with an apple slice - which works well too.

Store in a brown paper bag with ripe fruit of any kind, don't store in the fridge just turns the skins black with out ripening the banana.
