When is the Best Time to Harvest

A friend has a banana tree with small finger bananas and we were wondering how we would know the proper time to harvest therm.

Hi,
If the plant is huge and produced more than one crop it may be a plantain. They are generally larger than a banana and most types will taste bad until cooked.

Bananas are one of the few plants that ripen better OFF the vine. That makes them easy to ship because they can be picked before they are ripe and they ripen some during shipment. The slightly green banana on display at a grocers will look beautiful in about a day.

So...how do you get a green banana to turn yellow?????...just leave it alone and it will turn yellow in a day or two. You don't have to refrigerate a banana, but don't warm it to speed up the ripening process.

Would you please expand the above to indicate approximately how long from bunch formation to harvesting it as the bunches are forming at different times.
